Being the centre of NSW means there are so many wonderful ways to plan your self-drive itinerary to our station. Whether you are driving alone or joining a small group tour, there is nothing better than a good old fashioned road trip! After all, the journey should be as inspirational as the destination itself! Here are a few of our favorite self-drive itineraries from Sydney to outback NSW.
Driving From Sydney…
You can travel from the ocean to the outback, in as little as one day! But why not take your time?Enjoy the changing rural landscapes and the unique food and wine grown in each terroir. If you are keen to slow down the pace, here are a few ideas to include in your self-drive itinerary along the different routes to our station.
Blue Mountains, NSW
This rugged mountain range just west of Sydney is known for its dramatic scenery, steep cliffs, eucalyptus forests, waterfalls and quaint villages.
Orange, NSW
After traversing the mountains, stop in at one of Australia’s most impressive high altitude wine regions. In the beautiful town of Orange, NSW sample award winning cool climate wines from some of our favorite suppliers. Printhie Wines, Angullong and See Saw and Philip Shaw are just a few of our favorites! If you are keen for an overnight stay you can’t go past the luxurious suites of Basalt Luxury Accommodation. Dubbo, NSW
Sneak in a stop in to see the variety of characters that call the Taronga Western Plains Zoo home. And if you’re keen you can even sleep next to them! Grab a cold beer straight from the tap at Devil’s Hollow Brewery. The next day, roll out of bed to a relaxed breakfast and brew at The Harvest, Church St Cafe or Press.
Mudgee, NSW
If you have a few extra days up your sleeve you may like to add in a stop in the cold climate wine region of Mudgee. Drop into Lowe Family Wines for a true paddock to plate dining experience alongside some incredible organic wines. Book a delicious dining experience at The Barn at Blue Wren Farm and stumble out of bed the next morning for coffee and brunch at Alby & Esthers.
