Unique Luxurious Station Stay Near Nyngan

My husband and I treated ourselves to a night of luxury and indulgence at Callubri Station as we returned from a motorhome trip through outback NSW. We stayed only one night – in the very comfortable River Suite right beside the Bogan River – just long enough to get a taste of Callubri Station life. The beautiful old farm buildings, some dating back to the 1800s, have been meticulously restored and the fabulous old pianola in the Shearer’s Quarters was a fun way to finish the evening after our delicious dinner and wine. Angie is an amazing cook who uses produce from her extensive garden creatively. She even has a few items such as olives, dried citrus, preserved lemons etc. for sale. Her hospitality was faultless. One tip to pass on, make sure you catch both sunset AND sunrise if you can… incredible colours! Second tip, one we’ll definitely plan for next time, add on a couples’ outdoor bath experience under the stars and the chandelier in the mosquito proof “moon bathing” truck!

Unforgettable experience, outback of this world

I stayed in the river-side Cottage at Callubri Station with my two sons for our very own Jackaroo Weekend, and we’re still laughing over our adventures. The standard of accommodation and food is perfectly quaint and authentic, but the real charm of Callubri is the intangible mix of space, stunning nature and outback country heart. The Armstrongs are wonderfully warm hosts and we made plenty of new friends at the picnic races, the beautifully refurbished Nyngan pub and around the bonfire. We’re leaving the red dirt on the car to pretend we’re locals.

LOVED everything about Callubri Station

Our stay at Callubri Station was truly one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. It’s hard to put into words the sense of leaving the bustling city of Sydney behind, embarking on a breathtaking drive into the outback, and finally arriving at this picturesque working sheep station. Every aspect of our stay was exceptional, made possible by the wonderful owners, Mike and Angie.

We were fortunate to stay in the Sky Suites, where we wasted no time immersing ourselves in the stunning pool, surrounded by the sights and scents of the Australian landscape. Opting for dinner in the shearing quarters was a fantastic choice, as the ambience was simply amazing. Angie’s culinary skills were on full display with delicious lamb dishes that perfectly complemented the setting.

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the farm tour the next day. Spending half a day learning about the workings of the station was a fascinating experience. Mike, our guide, was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with our numerous questions. Lunch overlooking the property was another delightful experience, featuring a sampling of local foods that highlighted the region’s flavors.

Our second evening was just as memorable, with another incredible dinner followed by stargazing. The absence of background light pollution allowed us to see the stars more clearly than ever before, making for an unforgettable experience.

Callubri Station comes highly recommended for those seeking a unique, friendly, and authentic Australian experience.
